January 7
Dorothy Ryde
MacDermid EDC.png

“Dorothy Ryde was born on January 7, 1930 - so today would have been her 92nd birthday.

Mom was the family leader, lover of flowers and proper tea, creator of delicious pies, avid card player, collector of antique china cream jugs, good sport, lover of a good party, bulbar polio survivor (and thriver), and an indomitable spirit.

The nurses and care team were wonderful and attentively and respectfully helped her pass and us to say goodbye.

I became involved with Rotary Hospice believing that if it had been already open, Mom would have loved the homelike comfort, and it would have allowed me more time to be her “daughter” rather than a “caregiver”. We support our hospice for other Moms and their daughters.

Our heartfelt thanks to Sue and Al Wakelin who chose to Pay for a Day of Care in Dorothy's memory”.
